Al B. Harper Chapter 14: For Visionary

Kerry Shepherdson stood up from the breakfast table, collected up the empty cereal boxes, and went to throw them in the garbage can.

“Hey,” shouted Cody Harper, “those should go in the new recycle bin.” He pointed to the round container with “Recycle!” painted in gaudy colours on its outside.

Kerry gave a shrug and continued to make for the garbage.

“Come on, is it really that hard to put it in another bin?” Cody asked. “Think globally, act locally, and all that?”

Kerry threw the empty boxes into the air, where they spontaneously combusted. She glared at Cody for a second, and stomped out of the room.

“Forsooth! Something hath got yon Kerry workethed up this morn,” Harlagaz stated.

“She’s just upset over what happened with Naari,” Samantha Bonnington pointed out, “don’t take it personally Cody.”

“Yeah, I know,” the boy replied, “I read her body language.” He winked at FA. “Probably not the best time for me to try and instigate a save the planet campaign…I guess I wasn’t thinking.”

“It’s not like pollution is the main problem facing the planet these days anyway.” Zach Zenitz added, somewhat curtly, from the corner where he sat slightly apart from the others.

Before the others could reply, Trickshot entered the room. “You kids will want to come and see this!” he said. “Glitch is going to race Yuki Shiro on her bike!”

“Alrighteth!” shouted Harlagaz.

The youngsters all got up and followed Tricky out of the room, all that is except Liu-Xi, who was so into the music pumping through the ipod she had got from somewhere she didn’t even notice the others leave.
